Colorado is in the midst of a behavioral health crisis in which suicide and accidental overdose are the leading causes of mortality. Colorado ROOTS is a collaborative effort led by North East Health Partners in partnership with Stader Opioid Consultants (SOC). Colorado ROOTS is focused on helping hospitals and clinics in the Eastern Plains of Colorado provide equitable access to treatment and recovery for patients with substance use disorders (SUDs). Although SUDs have traditionally received less attention than other medical conditions, there is a clear and urgent need to become more facile in treating the disease of addiction, lest we lose more patients unnecessarily to a treatable disease.
