FAQs

  • Colorado ROOTS is a network of addiction care providers on the eastern plains of Colorado, dedicated to connecting individuals to high-quality, community-based treatment and support services for opioid and other substance use disorders. Colorado ROOTS launched in January 2024 and began accepting referrals in May 2024.

  • We connect individuals to comprehensive addiction treatment & recovery services for alcohol, opioid, methamphetamine, nicotine, and other substance use disorders, including:

    - Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT)

    - Individual and group therapy

    - High-Intensity Outpatient/ Intensive Outpatient Programs (HIOP/IOP)

    - Peer support and recovery coaching

    - Withdrawal management services (inpatient and outpatient)

    - Case management services

  • Quitting drugs or alcohol can cause uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, but you don’t have to go through it alone. You can get medicine to help with these symptoms, so you feel better while your body adjusts to the changes. These medications are usually given at a hospital or doctor's office, over 3-5 days, but sometimes they can be prescribed through an online appointment from home.

  • ROOTS can connect people to residential treatment or rehab programs, which provide live-in, long-term support focusing on recovery through therapy, skill-building, and relapse prevention. This differs from Withdrawal Management, which is a short-term service focused on safely managing withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and often serves as a precursor to further treatment. Some residential programs do offer withdrawal management services upon admission. ROOTS helps individuals access both types of care by identifying their needs and ensuring seamless connections to appropriate services in their communities.

  • Our services are available to anyone struggling with substance use on the Eastern Plains of Colorado, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Our treatment and recovery partners are committed to helping people in our rural communities access the care they need.

  • While we are committed to providing resources and referrals for comprehensive addiction services, at this time we do not have the resources to offer care coordination and referrals for mental health diagnoses or other medical conditions.

  • Colorado ROOTS does not provide any direct patient care. Instead, we connect individuals needing addiction care services to trusted providers within our network. While we have doctors on our team who work at local hospitals, they do not offer medical care through ROOTS.

  • You can start by completing a referral form HERE or calling us at 719-96-ROOTS. Our team will discuss options and connect you to the treatment provider of your choice.

  • MAT, or Medications for Addiction Treatment, are medications that have been proven effective in helping patients abstain from using substances. These medications help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, making it easier for individuals to be successful in achieving long-term recovery. Colorado ROOTS is proud to offer several referral options to providers who prescribe MAT.
